What is Aromatherapy?

It is an art, whether a healing art, or creative in an artistic sense.  The skill lies in the therapist's ability to prepare wonderful aromas by mixing and blending oils derived from plants, seeds, barks, vegetables and fruits to make fragrant essences.  It is creative in the sense that it utilizes the therapist's artistic side in developing not only fragrantly therapeutic sources for helping with a person's needs in healing but also in concocting wonderful beauty products.

Aromatherapy takes advantage of the deep and direct link between scent and the brain.  Even at a level too minute for us to consciously smell, scent molecules can trigger emotions and memories.  Aromatherapy uses essential oils to trigger system-balancing or mood enhancing responses.  Explore the scent and its health-promoting benefits.  We share with you this realm of deep connection.

Many books have been written on this newly rediscovered art; everything from the healing aspect to the beauty aspects.  Over the next few months we will take a journey on discovering the history of aromatherapy (current and past), how to safely and effectively use essential oils and aromatherapy products.

*Note:  Pure essential oils will rarely induce the common allergic responses that perfumes will.  Essential oils can, however, have very potent effects.
